Some of my favourite subjects to photograph has to be people, travel and anything to do with good food. So when my friend Shontelle Pinch called me to shoot her newest venture, I knew it was going to be appetizing! Pinch owns and operates Gourmet B!tches, a heatlh conscious gourmet food truck and her latest collaboration puts her at the helm of the new Rose City Kitchen on Queen West in Toronto.
Focusing on traditional snack food and authentic cuisines of the Mediterranean and Middle East, the RCK uses authentic ingredients from each region, including homemade spices, dips, falafels and grilled marinated meats. The result is a menu that binds the region’s similarities and nuances. It is named after the city of Petra Jordan, whose nickname is the Rose City, due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. The inspiration for the RCK comes from the food found on this international spice-route interchange. Adopting the cultures and tastes of Southern Arabia, Egypt, Rome, Syria, Greece and Turkey.
