Annual Birthday Ski Week

Every year for my birthday in February I take the week off and go skiing.  It started five years ago at Mammoth Mountain in California.  Come to think of it, that was the start of one era and the end of another.  It was the last trip I shot on film; I do miss the full rebate borders!

Mammoth Mountain 2007

This year I skied at Mt. Tremblant in Quebec.  I didn’t actually shoot any stills but did shoot a lot of video with my new ContourROAM  HD point of view camera.  Using it hand-held or with the common helmet mount is extremely easy.  I also strapped it to my arms, legs and knees for some pretty spectacular views.  These are some stills from the footage.

I used an application called Ski Tracks on my iPhone 4 to track my runs.  It uses the phone’s GPS and collects all this data, most of which can be totally useless, but still fun to review your day over a few beers!  Here are some screen shots of my runs.

Here are the videos I edited to some really cool music:

Here is a time lapse video of the end of the trip. One photo shot every 30 seconds, produced 110 photos in 55 minutes which equalled 3 seconds!

Year End Post

This month I wrapped up the year by shooting some portraits for various clients.  These included a couple of gorgeous kids, a great DJ, and a fun family. Some natural lighting on the kids really added a nice look. It can’t always be bikinis and racing!

Looking forward to some exciting projects coming in the new year!

Tosca Delfino Swim Parachutes onto Fashion Week

Look up in the sky, it’s a bikini! Toronto’s own Tosca Delfino presented at LG Fashion Week Spring 2012 to a full house earlier this week. She set the mood on the runway to feel like the Cayman Islands, the show’s sponsor, with the sea on the big screen and beach towels in the gift bags. The opening video which I produced with Tosca’s vision, featured one of her models from the runway parachuting out of an airplane wearing the Adrianna suit. Delfino now based in Milan Italy, showcased her latest collection of swimwear featuring colours and patterns which she creates herself, all inspired by her travels. One of the show’s popular pieces featured one of my photographs of the Toronto Skyline at night printed on the fabric:

Ce fut une grande Nuit Blanche!

This year’s Nuit Blanche was a bit chilly as I took part in Elaine Fleck’s Gallery Represented and Catalogue Artists Show. Each artist had one piece on display, and I had my Colosseo print pictured below top left. Thank you to everyone who showed up and for those of you who missed it, the show will be in the gallery for the next three weeks, until the end of October. It features the artists from the FALL 2011 catalogue.
